Deferment of Summer Taxes

Summer taxes may be deferred until February 15th. To qualify for this deferment a household income cannot exceed $40,000. The applicant must also meet one of the following classifications:

  • 62 years of age or older
  • Paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic
  • Eligible service person, veteran, widow or widower
  • Blind
  • Totally and permanently disabled

Those that farm agricultural real property may also qualify.


Principal Residence Exemption

The Principal Residence Exemption Affidavit allows you to claim an exemption on your home to decrease your school tax bill. To be eligible for this exemption, you must own and occupy your house as your legal principal residence by May 1 of each year. You may only claim one house as your principal residence.


Parcel Divisions

Division of a lot in a recorded plat in Mackinaw Township must be approved by the township board. Please contact the Township Assessor to obtain further information.

Application must be submitted to the Township Assessor for those parcels that are not in a recorded plat.
